Pizza Dough
Pizza Dough
Makes 2 doughs
In my family we had MYOP night which stood for Make Your Own Pizza. If you’re feeling up to the challenge, pizza dough is in fact a really easy recipe and technique. Otherwise, I encourage you to support your local pizza shop or Italian restaurant during this time of need.
3 cups all purpose or bread flour
1 ¼ cup water, room temperature
2 ¼ teaspoon active dry yeast
1 tablespoon honey
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons salt
Place flour in a large bowl. To a liquid measuring cup add water, yeast, honey and olive oil and allow the mixture to sit for five minutes until activated.
Add liquid to flour and then add salt. Stir using a spoon until the dough comes together and dump out on a lightly floured board or surface. Knead for 5-10 minutes until smooth, adding more flour as needed and prevent the dough from getting tacky.
Place dough in a bowl greased with olive oil and cover with a damp kitchen towel or saran wrap. Allow the dough to dough in size, takes about 1 ½ hours, and then punch down and divide into two doughs.
Shape and top pizza as you would.
